Course Details
This course is designed for the nominated workplace first aider or the individual who requires an in depth introduction to first aid. The course will give the candidate the knowledge and confidence to deal with first aid emergencies in the workplace.

Course Description
On completion of training successful candidates should be able to:
Provide emergency first aid at work and administer first aid to a casualty with:
- injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
- chest injuries
- burns and scalds
- eye injuries
- sudden poisoning
- anaphylactic shock
Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes)
Qualification Information
Designed for: First aiders in a higher risk environment Course duration: Three Days Assessment methods: Ongoing assessment, multiple choice examination, plus a practical assessment on the final day. Certification: HSE approved - Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) Certificate
In the practical assessment candidates will be tested on the following elements:
- Recovery position
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Shock
- Situation management
This course is HSE approved.
